Prof Ye-tang, Pan from the Beijing Institute of Technology has delivered an insightful seminar, invited by Dr Anthony CY Yuen. His seminar, entitled Fire-Safe Functional Porous Materials Based on Metal-Organic Frameworks, provided a detailed outlook on the past and recent developments in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) in the field of flame-retardant materials.

The Department of Building Environment and Energy Engineering (BEEE) successfully held Teaching Research Salons – Series 4 on 23 June 2026 (Tuesday) in Room Z405, 4/F, Block Z.

This session featured a sharing by Ir Dr Yuen Anthony Chun Yin, recipient of the Departmental Teaching Award 2024/25. Prof. Yuen shared his insights and practical experience in teaching, offering colleagues valuable perspectives on effective pedagogical strategies and classroom practices.

Dr Anthony Chun Yin YUEN delivered his invited HKIE Fire Symposium 2025 presentation on the topic "Advanced Technologies in Fire Modelling". He discussed the recent advancements in Molecular Dynamics models and the coupling with CFD techniques for upscaling fire simulations. Also, he shared his viewpoint on using AI-assisted MD/CFD models to aid in the design of battery thermal management systems for batteries.

Bismuth (Bi) is a promising anode material for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) due to its ultrahigh theoretical volumetric capacity. Team member. In our paper published in the Chemical Engineering Journal (IF=13.4), Dr Wenjie YANG reported an in-situ catalytic growth approach to synthesise Bi@GDY encapsulated within a graphdiyne (GDY) core-shell structure,  promising anode material for  SIBs.​​
